Making A Den

All of my life I have watched my mom attack a project and when things don't go quite her way, my dad would pick up the pieces and put them together his way.  I have seen many a war begin and end with home improvement projects.

Honestly, nothing has changed and anytime I have EVER tried to complete a project, somehow both of my parents have teamed up against me and taken it over.  After I moved out, I left all of my bedroom furniture in my childhood home and now my parents get to deal with the flat white I painted my dresser, mirror and nightstands.  They are not happy about it still and its been like a decade (insert maniacal laugh).

Anyways, now that I am living on my own things haven't changed much.  My parents are my neighbors and tend to visit, especially when I start a project.  For the two and a half years I have lived in my house I have had an unfinished room.  It is currently sitting full of unused exercise equipment and boxes upon boxes of holiday decor.  Truth be told, I really have no other place to put the decor, but it is time to do something with the space.  I have a few ideas, but mainly I am not sure which way to tackle them.  Anyone have any advice?

I have created a "Home Office/ Den" board on Pinterest and I will definitely be sharing progress along the way.  I know that I want light colors to lighten up the room and give a warmth off.  Also I want to create an office area where I can do my blogging and writing.  Here are a few looks that I absolutely adore.

Lumberjack Meets Lace

I know I am not really a home decor or fashion blogger.  In fact, I have had several attempts at both that just didn't pan out the way I thought they would so please have mercy on my non artsy, unprofessional photos of my newest quilt for my bed.

I have had a long time affair with buffalo plaid and when I saw this quilt and sham set on Zulily, I knew I had to have it.  I paid $69.99 which was a great price and I just adore it.  I chose to pair it with some lace trimmed sheets.  It is the perfect mixture of a lumberjack meeting lace.  It gives the feel of elegance, but not over the top along with a trendy vibe.  I am pretty much in love with this look right now.

You can find a similar set at Kohl's and lace trimmed sheets at Overstock.

So Long September Weekends

This past weekend was the last for September 2014 so of course I had to have a party.  Well, ok, that wasn't the reason for the party, but you get the idea.

Saturday found me out and about shopping for fall/ Halloween decor and T.J. Maxx didn't disappoint me.  I ended up with a fancy table runner, a glittered purple spiderweb place setting and a few skull and cross bone wine glasses.  I was feeling fancy and all the loot was less than $50!!!!

I also decorated a pumpkin with a super easy kit from Target.  Target is really on the affordable pumpkin decorations.  This kit (dots with adhesive and bow) was either $3 or $5... I can't remember.

Sunday brought the party about and I was over joyed to host The Banner Girls in a home show.  These two ladies are amazing y'all!  I have never ever wanted every single decoration as much as I want everything they make.  If you can dream it up, these two can scheme it up.  Here is a taste of the transformation they made to my living room!

That is my mantle after the ladies left.  I was able to keep items from the home show which is great and really filled up my instant gratification.  I still have two signs coming and I have to pick out a few banners.  Like I said- these ladies are amazing.  Not to mention they will ship all over!  They have had orders filled in almost all 50 states, Australia and Malaysia!  If you are thinking of ordering, definitely visit them here!
