Dierks, Beer and Laughlin

By now y'all know I will do just about anything and go just about anywhere to see Dierks (my country music boyfriend) in concert so when I heard he was playing in my beloved Laughlin I bought IMMEDIATELY.

I headed out to Laughlin Friday night and was asleep by 11 pm... I am a hardcore party animal.

Saturday night I headed to see Dierks Bentley with Logan Mize.  I drank a tall boy out of a paper bag, consumed about 7 more beers, followed by drunken grilled cheese eating.

Seriously though, Dierks is amazing in concert.  I love him more every time I see him.  Although the show wasn't as long as others I have been to, I was just super excited to see him and not have to Attend Stagecoach or pay Stagecoach prices.

Yes Dierks, I hold on...

In other news, I still hate my post office and I hope they finally deliver my wonderful weekend tee so y'all can see it, love it and maybe even buy it!

Hope everyone has a happy Monday.

Weekend Recap- The Winter That Didn't Show Up

You know what really irks me, like a lot?  More than ignorance and down right mean people?  It's the weather people.  Last week we were issued a winter storm warning.  It was said this would be the storm supplying enough snow to help Southern California out with the drought.  Everywhere was going to be hit.  The way the dumb weather people talked we would be getting like 6 feet of snow.  Friday was supposed to be calm with the storm moving, but we all were prepared to be hammered over night and through out the weekend...

Well me being me, I had concert tickets in Big Bear and there was no way I was missing out on an acoustic show by Sammy Kershaw.  I even paid for a hotel room at a resort for the night, that is how serious I was about going to Big Bear and being prepared for whatever weather moved in.  My friend and I headed up through pea soup thick fog and tons of traffic trying to outrun whatever snow was coming in along with all the yahoos doing the same dumb thing.  When I made it to Big Bear I was shocked how empty everything seemed.  We hurried up and headed over to The Cave to catch the show.  The show was great, there were only about 60 people in attendance due to the "inclement" weather that was non existent, and it was a very intimate show and as many concerts as I go to, this one for me was an experience I won't forget.  I truly believe in experiencing live music.

After the show, we meandered over to the local bar had a few drinks and called it a night at last call.  I have to admit, this is the first last call I have made it to in a few months.  Sad, but true.  I just cannot pull all nighters anymore.  As I walked back to my room I noticed absolutely no snow had fallen which was a plus since cowboy boots aren't really acceptable snow boots.  I would have been slippin' and sliding more than usual.

Saturday I woke up and figured there was going to be at least of foot of snow on the ground... Ya, that was so NOT the case.  It was a perfect blue bird morning.  With N and I slightly hungover, we made our way back to the same locals bar only to find about 6 people there.  We made the best of it and sadly no snow fell from the sky.  I ran into some friends who pretty much think I live in BB now, because I was at a local bar... Uh ok?  It is a big mountain, but there is really no place to run and hide.  As we headed out, not snow fell but clouds moved in.  I am telling you this "winter" storm was anything but that.

Sunday was off and one sleet and sun with Bloody Mary's and family time.  I even was able to get laundry done and moved some DVD's out of  moving boxes from about 7 months ago.  That is what I call progress.

In case you don't follow me on Instagam, I am participating in a Blog Life Photo Challenge.  Feel free to join us when you can!

Weekend Recap- GOOD TIME

Oh lord it is Monday.. A foggy, wish I could stay in bed type Monday.  Actually the weather is great, it's nice to have a seasonal storm rather than the endless summer that has become Southern Californian life.

My weekend was jam packed full of beer, sunshine an  country music.  So much that I may have even fallen down but we aren't going to discuss that as I am a complete klutz and if I am not falling down or tripping there is something seriously wrong with me.

Friday I was out of work a little after noon and hitched a ride with my parentals to head to Laughlin for their "Keepin It Country" weekend where Alan Jackson played with Brandy Clark and Jon Pardi on Saturday night.

I drank Bush Mills whiskey (worst idea ever) and some Bud Light.  I made new friends who apparently love Toby Keith in concert- which I do not.  We made it to the diner in a casino and had the weirdest waitress on the planet.  As in she undid and opened my flatware for me and laid the napkin in my lap.  It was too much and I got the giggles.  It was as if she was going to spoon feed me.  I guess I should feel lucky that I didn't get a bib tied around my neck.

Saturday was a late morning start and off to the pool for sun and beer.  It was so nice to be poolside in the month of February- not that I know what winter feels like anymore.

Saturday night was Alan Jackson and man is he a good performer.  We never even tried to head to our seats, we just stayed beer garden side with the luck of on stage tv screens as aid.  It was a great concert and we again drank WAY too much beer.

Typical boot and beer photo.

Seesters

He really does love us, even if he looks super annoyed.

I have no idea, but we were "that" group.

Aren't my parents totes adorbs?

Yes I could barely open my eyes and had to use the menu as a shield from flying ice and sugar packets...  Tsk tsk!

Sunday I was up at the ass crack to come home and basically was a worthless human yesterday!

With Love Round 3- Country Music Boyfriend

We are at round 3 of the "With Love" posts so it was obvious I had to post about my love of music, or rather country music, but most importantly my country music boyfriends.

Dierks Bentley is my very fist CMB (Country Music Boyfriend) and will forever hold a place in my heart.

Eric Church and his "I don't give a fuck" attitude make me happy.  Seeing him live is life changing... It makes you want to "tell the establishment to go to hell".

Chris Young is just so beautifully soulful.  I am pretty sure someday he will become my Country Music Husband.

Randy Houser's voice could "ride in on a sunny day and steal my heart away"... Swoon.

Sam Hunt is  alittle bit newer and I am still trying to decide if I like him as much as the others on my list, but his music is fun!

Eric Paslay, aka Ginger Beard- I love his current single.  He is pretty good, but not as good as Erich Church.

A splash of rock n roll with my country jack n coke

I was raised in good music. There was no such thing as techno beats and rap was Aerosmith and Run DMC collaborating on "Walk This Way". I don't recall my first love in music but I know it had to something good, most likely Bruce Springsteen, George Thorogood or The Beatles.

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Neil Young, rivals of sorts, were one in the same. ACDC was something of a forbidden drug as mom hated them and dad listened just to piss her off. Classic rock was familiar and home. I had heard of the country side of life, but we didn't venture there. Grandma Taylor was something of an Elvis fan with a little Hank Williams and some Glen Campbell thrown in for measure but that was more of a memory lane for mom, not a constant.

The late eighties sprouted the band Alabama into mainstream and Reba McIntire. A few years later the world would know the sounds of Garth Brooks and through him the original cowboy Chris LeDoux. Garth wasn't my first country love. I found my heart in the songs of Hal Ketchum along with an introduction to the underground band, The Violent Femmes.  I have to thank those rowdy rebellious kids of the mid 1990s for having my sister bring these sounds into my household. It wasn't forbidden just part of the unknown.

Music and life were good then.

Junior high brought about the boy band craze and as much as I loved them then I don't really miss them now as country has stolen my heart and turned me into a person who longs for the simplicity if southern and backwoods life. A place where problems are solved with a fist followed by an ice cold beer; where you love your mama and treat your woman right; where daddies work hard to provide and siblings stick side by side; where cowboy boots are appropriate for all occasions and everyone drives a truck.

The older I got the deeper I dove into the "outlaws" of country music.  Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Hank Jr on to Hank III.  There was an entire undiscovered electic mixture of music.  My soul was hungry for more and more.  Here was where country roots lay and I wanted my roots to grow deep into the country clay.

Obviously I have a love for all music but there is something about country that just gets into your bloodstream and changes the way you feel, the way you think and what kind of whiskey you drink.
